His work is grounded in vibrant color combinations and unique otherworldly settings. Erasto’s work has appeared in the pages of the Washington Post (2/4/2022). I am inspired by the Sun and what it does to things from an artistic perspective. I love the beauty of nature and the beauty of people. I am interested in the world community and all the inspiration that it has to offer.
With each piece of Art I create, my goal is to open a window to the imagination. In my abstract pieces, I want people to see something new each day. I believe my art is the doorway to a conversation between the spirit and the elemental self.

About The hueMANity Exhibition
African American, Black, and Hispanic artists have long been at the forefront of the fight for social justice and equality. Their work has challenged the status quo, given voice to the marginalized, and celebrated the beauty and diversity of their cultures. This exhibition highlights the work of contemporary artists from these communities who are using their creativity to explore themes of resilience, resistance, and liberation.
The artists featured in this exhibition work in a variety of mediums. Their work is deeply personal and often reflects their own experiences of racism, discrimination, and oppression. However, it is also a testament to the power of art to heal, inspire, and transform.
Through their work, these artists offer a unique perspective on the world and invite us to see it through their eyes. They challenge us to think critically about the systems of power that oppress marginalized communities and to imagine a more just and equitable future.
This exhibition is a celebration of the creativity, resilience, and resistance of African, Black, and Hispanic artists. It is also a call to action, urging us to work together to create a more just and equitable world for all.
BWI Marshall Static Arts Committee
The art program at BWI Marshall Airport provides our passengers with an opportunity to experience the beauty, spirit, and creativity in our region. The various art exhibits celebrate natural and intellectual resources, our regional flavor, and the wonders of exploration and aviation. The Yumi Hogan International Art Gallery rotates three times per year and is juried through a collaborative effort between the BWI Marshall Static Arts Committee, chaired by Jack Rasmussen, and partner organizations.
The Black Art Today Foundation: From Storytellers to Advocates
Born in 2018 with a mission to amplify the voices of Black artists, Black Art Today began by capturing their stories and journeys. Fueled by the vibrant pulse of African American culture in literature, visual arts, and performance, we became a platform for celebration, understanding, and connection.
But in 2022, our vision evolved. Recognizing the need for deeper impact, we transformed into The Black Art Today Foundation, a non-profit arts advocacy organization. We now channel our passion into empowering artists, amplifying their voices, and advocating for equitable access and representation in the arts.
Today, The Black Art Today Foundation is a beacon of creative empowerment and social change. We champion artistic excellence, nurture talent through grants and mentorship, and connect diverse audiences with the transformative power of Black art. Through exhibitions, conversations, and community engagement, we build bridges of understanding and foster a world where Black art thrives.
The Black Art Today Foundation, where stories ignite action, creativity inspires justice, and the future of art shines bright with inclusivity and empowerment.
